Exhausted, drained, and hungry: three words that describe how I feel after a long day at work. The last thing I want to do is plan out balanced meals (that actually taste good), and usually resort to DoorDash or heating up the same bland, store-bought options. I even tried meal-prepping on my precious weekends, but it quickly got tedious and didn’t leave much room for variety. Enter Marley Spoon.
What Is Marley Spoon?
Marley Spoon teams up with Martha Stewart—yes, the lifestyle icon known for her cooking and homemaking—to deliver step-by-step recipes and fresh, pre-portioned ingredients straight to your door.
The sign-up process was straightforward—I was offered 100+ recipes, with options for different tastes, dietary needs, and cooking skill levels. Instead of searching through endless Pinterest boards or browsing grocery aisles for inspiration, I just picked a few meals that sounded tasty, chose a day and timeslot for my delivery, and my meals for the week were delivered.
The convenience was great, but how do the meals actually taste? Let’s find out.
The Meals
1. Cajun Shrimp Salad ★★★★

First up was the Cajun Shrimp Salad. I was skeptical about ordering seafood by mail, but these shrimp were surprisingly fresh. The instructions were straightforward—sauté the shrimp in a hot pan with the provided spice mix, toss the salad ingredients, and finish with crunchy tortilla chips on top. The entire process took about 20 minutes, which was perfect for a busy weeknight.
The shrimps cooked up tender, with Cajun seasoning that added just the right kick. The crunchy tortilla chips—my favorite part of the dish—provided a fun texture. Overall, it was a great option for a lighter yet still satisfying dinner.
2. Everything Bagel-Crusted Sirloin Steak ★★★★★

Steak can be quite intimidating to cook, but Marley Spoon’s clear, step-by-step instructions made it easy. The instructions even guided us on the number of minutes to cook per side to achieve a perfect medium-rare.
In terms of taste, this one blew me away. The steak turned out incredibly tender. I loved that I could quickly whip up a homemade ranch dressing from scratch for the lettuce side salad that tasted fresh. The flavors here were on point, and the everything bagel crust added a fun crunch to the steak. If I had to choose one recipe to reorder every week, this would be it.
3. Greek Sheet Pan Chicken ★★★

This was meant to be a quick, one-pan wonder. We laid out the potatoes, chicken, and veggies on a sheet pan in order, drizzled on some olive oil, and followed the recipe’s seasoning measurements. The cooking instructions were a bit strict about times and temperatures, which required careful monitoring—especially in our cramped kitchen. The upside? Fewer dishes to wash afterward.
While the chicken did turn out juicy, we found the flavor a bit underwhelming. We stuck to the recipe’s recommended seasoning, but we still craved extra sauce. If you’re someone who loves bold flavors, just be prepared to add a little extra salt or herbs.
The Verdict
Marley Spoon made it easy to enjoy balanced, high-quality meals during my workweek—without the usual headache of planning and shopping. The portion sizes are generous (hello, next-day lunch!), and the taste is consistently good. If you’re ready to save time, skip grocery lines, and still enjoy home-cooked meals, Marley Spoon is definitely worth checking out.
